I. Explanation of Group Owner Permissions

1. Explanation of internal group owner permissions

The owner of an internal group can perform actions as follows: Modify group name, send group announcement, remove group members, recall messages sent by group members within the last 24 hours, and configure group management settings (only the owner or administrators can manage the group, approval for group chat invitation, only the owner or administrators can @mention everyone, set group mute, set group administrators, transfer ownership, and disband the group chat).

Only the group owner or administrators can conduct the management. When enabled, only the owner or administrators can invite members to join the group; others have no invitation option. Group members cannot modify the group name or announcement.

Approval for group chat invitation: When enabled, group members must obtain approval from the group owner or administrator before they can invite members to join the group. WeChat contact inviting and group QR code will be simultaneously disabled.

Only the group owner or administrators can @mention everyone: When not enabled, all group members can @mention everyone; When enabled, only the group owner and administrators can @mention everyone.

2. Explanation of external group ownership

The owner of an external group can perform the actions as follows: Modify group name, send group announcement, remove group members, and configure group management settings (disable group renaming, approval for group invitation, disable adding each other as contacts, set group administrators, transfer ownership, and disband the group chat).

The “Only the group owner or administrators can manage” option cannot be set currently.

Approval for group chat invitation: When enabled, group members must obtain approval from the group owner or administrator before they can invite members to join the group. Joining the group via scanning the group QR code will also be disabled.

Only the group owner and administrators can @mention everyone. Ordinary company members cannot.

3. Explanation of customer group ownership

The owner of an customer group can perform the actions as follows: Modify group name, send group announcement, remove group members, and configure group management settings (disable group renaming, approval for group invitation, disable adding each other as contacts, set group administrators, transfer ownership, and disband the group chat), enable/disable customer assistant, auto-reply, anti-harassment, and use template to quickly configure group.

The “Only the group owner or administrators can manage” option cannot be set currently.

Approval for group chat invitation: When enabled, group members must obtain approval from the group owner or administrator before they can invite members to join the group. Joining the group via scanning the group QR code will also be disabled.

Only the group owner and administrators can @mention everyone. Ordinary company members cannot.

II. Explanation of Group Administrator Permissions

1. Group administrators can rename the group chat, even for group chats with over 100 members.

2. Administrators can add, delete, and modify group announcements.

3. Administrators can remove members from the group.

4. Administrators can recall messages sent by group members within the last 24 hours (currently not supported for external groups).

5. Administrators can enable the “Only the owner or administrators can manage” option. When enabled, other group members cannot modify the group name, invite members, or edit group announcements.

6. Administrators can enable the “Group invitation confirmation” option on the Group Management page. When enabled, the group administrators and owner can directly invite members to join the group. If ordinary members invite others, the reason for the invitation is required. Administrators, like the owner, will receive a system prompt in the group: “XXX wants to invite n contact(s) to join the group chat. Please confirm”.

7. Administrators can enable the “Only the group owner or administrators can @mention everyone” option within internal groups.

8. Each group chat supports adding up to 3 administrators. Administrators cannot “disband the group chat”, “transfer ownership”, or set administrators.

9. Group administrators can restrict group members from adding each other as contacts.
