  • If the company has not enabled “Receive Money from External”, or if members do not have an available merchant account, members can request the admin to enable “Receive Money from External”.
Go to “Workspace” -> “Receive Money from External” -> “Request to Use” in the WeCom app.
  • If the company has enabled “Members can add receiving accounts”, the finance personnel can directly click “I am a finance personnel. I will enable it myself.” to create a receiving account.

II. Creating a receiving account as a company

1. Admins and owners can apply for creating merchant accounts of company type easily with their ID cards. After creation, members can receive money and admins/owners can withdraw cash on their phones.

2. For the collection account of “Enterprises”, “Individually-owned Business”, “Social Organizations”, “Public Institutions”, “Government Agencies”, and “Activated with ID Card”, the single amount collected with receipt and QR code is up to CNY 80,000; the single amount collected from transfer is up to CNY 200,000, with no daily collection limit.

3. Members can apply for creating merchant accounts of company type by submitting company documents and set the usage scope of the receiving accounts at the same time. When the application is successful, the super admin can modify the usage scope.

4. WeChat Pay sets a limit on the number of merchant numbers of the company type that the same entity can apply for using a business license (or other types of entity documentation). There is no limit on the number of merchant accounts of the company type linked with Receive Money from External.

5. Overseas business licenses cannot be used to apply for creating merchant accounts. (Sole proprietors can apply for merchant accounts in v4.0.20 or later versions.)

6. If a company’s legal representative is a foreigner, it can apply for a merchant account of company type.

7. Each merchant account can only be bound with one company. If a merchant account is unbound from a company, it cannot be bound with other companies.
Starting from version 4.1.22, it is not allowed to unbind/remove receiving accounts activated in WeCom. They can only be disabled and enabled again.

8. A company can use another company’s documents to apply for creating a merchant account of company type. For example, company A uses company B’s business license for application.

9. Electronic Business Licenses are supported, provided they meet three conditions: 1. Contain the “Electronic Business License” watermark, 2. Have a digital signature from the Market Supervision Department with approver added, 3. Bear no seal/stamp from the registration authority.

10. For “Private Non-Enterprise Units” applying for external payment collection, the entity type must be selected as “Social Organization”.

11. Merchant accounts of the “Enterprise” type can be activated even if an individual business license has no company name (the “Name” field is empty or shows asterisks “*”). In such cases, enter the merchant name in the format: “Individual Business + Operator Name”, for example, “Individual Business Zhang San”.

III. FAQs

1. Is verification required to enable Receive Money from External?

Verified companies can apply for a merchant account of the company type. Unverified companies cannot apply for a merchant account.
If a verified company activates a merchant account and the company verification expires without undergoing annual review, Receive Money from External will become unavailable.

For more information about verification, please refer to the WeCom Verification Overview.
Please note that a service fee is charged for company verification. Please read carefully the relevant terms on the payment page before proceeding with the payment.

For merchant accounts of the company type, a business account (basic account or general account) must be bound and can be changed later. For sole proprietors, a personal bank card can be bound or used instead.
Note: “Sole Proprietorship” is considered a type of company. Associating a corporate bank card of the legal representative is not supported. The final outcome is subject to the review.
