I.Overview

On the “Compose” page, expand “Other Options” to see “Encrypt Email”. You are required to enter the password twice to ensure that the password is correctly set.
Note: Email encryption applies to ordinary emails only.

II.Encrypted content

The encrypted content includes the email body and attachments, which can only be viewed after decryption.

III.View an encrypted email

You need to decrypt a received email before viewing its content.

For Exmail or QQ Mail users, you will be directed to a decryption page by clicking an email. After entering the email password, you can view the content of the email.After decryption, if you log out of your mailbox, clear your browser cookies, or perform similar operations, you will need to re-enter the password to read the email again.For non-Exmail and non-QQ Mail users, the content of the email is encrypted and zipped. You need to download the zip file to your local device and decrypt it using a decompression tool (e.g. 7-Zip and WinRAR) to view it. You can also forward the email to your Exmail account and then decrypt it for viewing.
If the file cannot be unzipped, please upgrade the decompression tool to the latest version.

You can also use Foxmail client to view the encrypted email. When you open the email, a password input box will be displayed, and you can view the email content after entering the email password.

Note: You can contact the sender for the password of an encrypted email.

If you select “Encrypt Email” for an email and save the encrypted email to “Drafts”, the email password will be cleared by default in case you forget it. You have to reset the password when you edit the draft again.

V.No password is required to view a decrypted and forwarded email

If you want the recipient to decrypt the email before they can view the content, you can encrypt the email again before forwarding it.

Note: The “Encrypt Email” feature in the new version of Exmail has been upgraded to “Confidential Emails” (for earlier versions, this feature is still available).
