1. Only WeCom version 3.1.10 and above can use this feature.
2. WeChat needs to be updated to the latest version (Android 7.0.16+, iOS 7.0.14+).
3. A WeChat account has been linked to the WeCom account.
4. The logged-in account on mobile must be the WeChat account linked to WeCom.
5. Companies whose industry type is “Education -> Training Institutions”
6. Members need to be allowed users of student groups. Admins can check the allowed scope in “Workspace” -> “Student Group” -> “Settings” in the WeCom app.
Path:Admins can check the allowed scope in “Workspace” -> “Student Group” ->”Migrate WeChat Groups”
All WeChat groups where the user is the group owner can be migrated.
Log in again to the WeChat account linked to WeCom.
1. Up to 5 group chats can be selected for migration at a time. If there are multiple group chats, migration can be performed multiple times.
2. The number of members in the chats to be migrated should be no more than 499.
3. For unverified companies, a maximum of 5 group chats can be migrated. For verified companies, the maximum number that can be migrated is 10 times the number of WeCom users. Companies can increase the limit by raising their DAU peak.
Note: DAU (Daily Active Users) refers to the number of active users of the WeCom app on a given day. Administrators can view the number of WeCom app users via: [Mobile App -> Workspace -> Manage Company -> Usage By Members]. (iOS is not currently supported)
Or, [Admin Console -> Security and Management -> Management Tools -> Usage Analysis -> Member Usage Statistics -> WeCom App].
No. After the group migration is completed, students can send messages to and receive messages from the staff on WeCom using WeChat.
When migrating a WeChat group to WeCom, once you join the group with your WeCom identity, both your personal WeChat account and your WeCom account will be present in the same group. This would cause duplicate message notifications across both apps. To avoid redundant reminders, the system will automatically remove your personal WeChat ID from the group.
If the group owner wants to manage the group with their own WeChat account, they can go to the upper-right corner of the student group in WeCom, and click “Group Management” -> “Transfer ownership” to transfer the ownership to their own WeChat account.
Note: Transferring group ownership to a WeChat account only allows managing the group chat within WeChat. It does not support converting the group chat back to an ordinary WeChat group, and the WeCom group chat identifier cannot be removed.
