Creators, super administrators, and hierarchical administrators withContacts management permissions can add members to the enterprise Contacts in the Admin Console.
On the “Contacts” tab, click “Add Members”, and then specify the information of the member to be added, including name, account, department, title, gender, mobile number, office number, and email address.
Name, account, mobile number, and department are mandatory fields.
On the “Contacts” tab, click “Batch import/export” and select “File Import”.
Download the template, and then edit the information of the members to be added in batches, including name, account, department, title, gender, mobile number, office number, and email address. Name, account, mobile number, and department are mandatory fields.
Upload the edited file, and then the members specified will be imported to WeCom Contacts in batches. They can log in by verifying their mobile number or email address.
On the “Contacts” tab, click “Batch import/export” and select “Export Contacts”. You can then export the information of the specified members, including name, account, alias, department, title, gender, mobile number, and custom fields displayed to internal contacts.

On the “Security and Management” -> “Management Tool” tab of the admin console, select “Sync of Contacts” and then enable API sync. If manual editing is not enabled, a message will be displayed when admins add members, indicating that members cannot be added while contacts have been synchronized through open APIs or authorized third-party service providers.
When the number of activated users in the enterprise is less than 20, thecreators/super administrators can add members to the enterprise Contacts on the desktop client (applicable for bothWindows and Mac).
Path: [Desktop Client -> Contacts -> Add Member]. You can choose to add from WeChat contacts, go to the Admin Console to import contacts, and copy the link to invite colleagues
1. Add from WeChat contacts
After clicking, the WeChat contacts list will be displayed. You can check the WeChat contacts that need to be added. After clicking OK, the selected WeChat contacts will be directly added to the enterprise Contacts.
2. Copy link to invite colleague
(1) You can copy the link to invite colleagues or obtain the invitation QR code;
(2) If you choose to add via invitation QR code, you need to scan WeChat to obtain the invitation card, and then click “…” in the upper right corner to send the invitation card to your colleague.

Select this option to open WeChat and then send invitations to your WeChat contacts.
This function will recommend WeChat contacts. You can directly add them to your company’s WeCom contacts.
For this option, you can only select WeChat group chats with your WeChat account bound to WeCom being the group owner. After that, members in the selected group chats will be automatically added to the company’s WeCom contacts, the selected WeChat group chats will be upgraded to WeCom group chats with the group owner transferred to the WeCom account bound to your WeChat account, and your WeChat account will automatically quit the selected group chats.
Add your WeChat or mobile contacts to WeCom contacts.
Select quick input or complete input mode to add contacts. With complete input, you can specify detailed information of the member to be added, including name, mobile number, email address, and department.
With quick input, you only need to specify the member’s name, and mobile number or email address.
You can add contacts from a printed list or photo. The system will automatically recognize the names, mobile numbers and email addresses of the contacts.
You can also add contacts from local files. The system will automatically recognize the names, mobile numbers and email addresses of the contacts.
Duplicated mobile numbers are not allowed. If a mobile number already exists in WeCom contacts, a message will be displayed when admins add the mobile number repeatedly, indicating that the mobile number has been used by another member.
a) Accounts can only consist of letters, numbers, and symbols (.-_@).
b) Check if the phone number being added has been bound by an external admin. You can go to “Admin Console” -> “My Company” -> “Permission Management” -> “Agency Operation” to check if the external admin’s bound phone number is the same as the new member’s phone number.
c) Check if the “Account” or “Phone Number” already exists in the company’s Contacts. The super admin can copy the account and search for it in the Contacts to see if any member is already using that account.
d) Check if the member’s email address is too long. (The combined length of the “prefix@domain” should not exceed 64 characters, and the domain should not exceed 48 characters.) An excessively long email address can trigger the “Account
error” prompt. Consider using a different email domain or shortening the email prefix before saving.
a) Check if the admin performing the operation is a sub-admin. If so, it is possible that the phone number/email address already exists in the Contacts but is not visible to the sub-admin.
b) The super admin can search for the phone number/email address in the Contacts in the Admin Console to check if it exists in the Contacts.
c) After performing steps a) and b), try entering the phone number/email addres again.
a) Check if the number of digits matches the selected country code. For example, the country code of China is +86, and the phone number should have 11 digits.
b) Enter the phone number instead of copying and pasting. If the issue persists, proceed to step c).
c) Dial the entered phone number to check if it can be connected and a call can be made. If it works, the admin can contact the online customer service for further assistance.
Note: Admins can access “Online Customer Service” by tapping “三” in the upper-left corner of the Chats page -> the “Settings” icon in the lower-right corner -> “Help & Feedback” in the WeCom app and scrolling down to the bottom.
a) Check if the member’s Exmail field contains symbols such as “-“ or “+”. These symbols are not supported. Modify the email address and try again.
b) Refresh your browser and try again. Check if the company has enabled Contacts Synchronization. Manual editing may not be allowed. You can check the status of this feature in “Admin Console” -> “Security Management” ->”Management Tool” -> “Sync of Contacts”. You can enable manual editing in the permission settings under “Sync of Contacts”.
This error occurs when a tag contains more than 3,000 members. You can reduce the number of members and try importing them in batches.
You need to check if the custom external fields you have set contain any of the following words: WeCom, Moments, Channel, Scan, Shake, Top Stories, Search, Nearby, Mini Programs, Official Account, WeChat, Service Account, QQ, Complaint.
If any of these are present, the custom external fields will be considered invalid as they are reserved terminology from WeChat. Please remove any of these words or phrases related to official WeChat features by going to “My Company” -> “Contacts Management” -> “Member Info Display” -> “External Information Display” -> “Exclusive External Info Display”.
Note: These reserved terminology cannot be included in the external information in the Contacts.
